
Norma Jean Simonsen, mother to Cassandra Watkins, passed away on May 6th, 2025 after a yearlong battle with cancer. Her final moments were spent peacefully in her daughter April’s home in Baltimore, surrounded by family.
Known for her outspoken personality and love for music and comedy, Norma Jean will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Born in Bennettsville, SC, she lived most of her life in Baltimore, before moving to Lady Lake Florida 17 years ago, where she built a large network of friends who are like family. She returned to Baltimore recently for additional medical attention.
Norma Jean’s family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life not the sadness of her passing. She is survived by her daughters Watkins and April Rose, her beloved granddaughters, Shelby, Alli, Julie and Grace, and a very large extended family through blood and shared bonds. She is preceded in death by the love of her life, Walt Simonsen.
