Paul Louis Barbero

Paul Louis Barbero, age 80, son of Achille and Elvira Barbero passed away on May 17, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Anastasia Helen Barbero (nee McCabe); devoted father of Staci Ann Georgiou and her husband Gary; loving grandfather of Emily Anastasia Georgiou and Thomas Kyriacos Georgiou; dear brother of Linda Rose Guiod and her late husband James.

Paul grew up in Great River, Long Island, commuted daily by the Long Island Rail Road to Chaminade High School and graduated from the University of Notre Dame with Undergraduate and Master’s degrees in Engineering. He also went on to earn his MBA. During his high school summer breaks he dug clams in the Great South Bay and spent summers during his college years working at Grumman Aerospace. He and Ann met in South Bend, Indiana and after marrying in Chicago set up home in Sayville, Long Island. Continuing his engineering career at Grumman, Paul worked on the F-14 Tomcat fighter jet team for the US Navy and later joined Samson Automation where he served as President and worked until retirement. Paul and Ann enjoyed their retirement years in Bradenton, Florida until relocating to Maryland to be closer to family.

Family and friends are invited to gather at the Schimunek Funeral Home, 9705 Belair RD, Nottingham, MD 21236, on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, from 3-5 & 7-9 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at 10 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church (Fullerton, MD). Interment services are private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Paul’s name to the Children’s Chorus of Maryland and School of Music at www.ccmsings.org
