Walter began singing in public at the age of 10 as part of church choirs and youth choruses and over the years he has sung with adult choruses, glee clubs, quartets, barbershop choruses and as a soloist. His overall favorite is Autumn Leaves. Walter lived in Kingsville for the last 51 years. He was born in Brooklyn, New York and moved to Baltimore in 1949. He served in the Army during the Korean War, and married his high school sweetheart, Barbara, in 1955. He was blessed with 2 children, eight grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren, with 1 more on the way. On October 1st, he and Barbara will have been married for 70 years. In 1992, Walter retired from Proctor & Gamble after 33 years. During his career, he was Tavern Manager, Environmental Coordinator, Union President, Labor Arbitrator, and Legal Advisor. Since his retirement, Walter had kept very busy, spending his time singing, volunteering, traveling by car, reading (over 1,000 books), attending sporting events, hus favorites being the Brooklyn Dodgers and Notre Dame. He began each day listening to the Notre Dame fight song. He always said "I get up in the morning with nothing planned to do and by noon I was already an hour behind". Everyone he met was a friend. He was gracious, compassionate, fair, loving and greatly, dearly loved. We are blessed for having known him.
