Wayne Brian Arvin

On October 24, 1944, Wayne Brian Arvin was born to the late Hugh Franklin Arvin and Joann Rose Arvin. He grew up, and went to school, in the Dundalk, MD area. After graduation, Wayne joined the Air Force, serving from 1963 to 1967. He was stationed in France, Germany, California and Florida. He especially enjoyed his time in France and learned near fluent french. Also, while serving in Germany, he learned to speak quite a bit of german. After the military, Wayne went to college and received an Associate’s degree. He worked at Giant Food for 14 years and then went into the construction field as a carpenter until retirement.

Wayne was married twice. His first marriage was to the late Roberta Lee Balk. They had one child, a daughter, Shannon Rae Arvin. His second marriage was to Maria Benvenga, who had two sons from her previous marriage, Salvatore and Christopher. Years after his second divorce, Wayne met Darlene Nash, and in 2001, moved to Kent Island, MD.

While living in Kent Island, Wayne was very active at Immanuel United Methodist Church, made many friends and volunteered often. He also donated his time to the Chesapeake Environmental Center.

Wayne loved to travel, learn new languages, and ride motorcycles. He also collected coins and was an avid Ravens fan. He loved to get dressed up, especially when going to movies and shows. He had a quick wit, loved to tell jokes, and make people smile. He was quite the charmer and would talk to anyone that would listen! He was known for his generosity and willingness to help others, especially with his time and home improvement skills.

Wayne is survived by his daughter, Shannon Rae Arvin, daughter in law, Hillary Davis, brother Kenneth Arvin, sister Joyce McFaul, brother in law Bill McFaul, brother Ralph Arvin, sister in law Ellen Arvin, sister Linda Keller, brother in law Wade Keller and nieces and nephews Sean, Dawn, Kelly, Lisa and Brian. Also, his best friend of over 30 years, Sherry Clark, and his love and companion of 16 years, Darlene Nash.
