Joe, as many knew him, was born in Monterey, California, on April 15, 1947 to Joan and Dominic DiMare. He was married to and is survived by the love of his life, Mary (Grech) DiMare, for 51 years. He is survived by their three children, Dede (Joe) Cerruti, Dominic (Lisa) DiMare and Larry DiMare, all of Novato, as well as his 8 grandchildren, Vincent and Daniella Cerruti, Nicholas, Gina and Joseph DiMare and Marco, Dante, and Nina DiMare. Sisters Ginny (Ron) Rich, Maria (Paul) Pratt and loving Uncle Nino (Pat) Venza, along with his numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Joe had a passion for family, friends and outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing and of course restoring his Cobra. He worked as a Stationary Engineer for 45 years in San Francisco. He spent his free time enjoying wine, good food and his “Breakfast Club” he had with his grandkids. Joe also enjoyed watching movies and playing cards. Joe was always there to lend a helping hand to friends and family with projects or whatever anyone needed him for.
The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude for the many doctors and health care professionals for their loving care and support during his illness.
Private funeral services for Joe will be held at Our Lady of Loretto Catholic Church on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 and he will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Valley Memorial Cemetery. Donations may be made to Trumbull Manor of Novato or a charity of your choice.
