

Lloyd Wendell Kearns Lloyd died peacefully surrounded by his wife and children on October 27, 2012. Lloyd was born in 1940 in San Francisco. He graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1958. He served in the Navy and upon returning graduated from San Jose State in 1968. He and his wife Janice raised three children in Novato. Lloyd was known for his athletic accomplishments. He received a boxing scholarship to San Jose State, won the Golden Gloves in 1963, played semi-pro football for San Jose Apaches and rugby for SF Rugby Club and SF BATS. Lloyd taught P.E. and art with the SF School District for 37 years retiring in 2005. He volunteered at the Red Cross teaching CPR. He swam in Aquatic Park and competed in the Alcatraz, Pt. Bonita and Donner Lake swims. Lloyd was a loyal father and husband and retiring to spend his time with his children and grandchildren, Shea Kearns, Spencer and Liam Gorman. Lloyd is survived by his wife Janice, daughter Kerry Gorman (Patrick) of Napa, son Ian Kearns of Martinez, son Jack Kearns (Leilani) of Menlo Park, siblings Tom, Carol, Colleen and Pat. A visitation and rosary will be held at Keaton's Mortuary, 1801 Novato Blvd Novato, November 1st, 5:00-8:00 PM.
