

Peter S. Martin Passed away peacefully on August 7, 2012 at the age of 93. Born on October 19, 1918 in New York City, as a young man, he enlisted and served his country in WWII and again in Korea. Prior to enlisting in the Army, he worked at W&J Sloan's, where he met his wife to be, Frances Esposito. He returned to Sloan's after his tours of duty. He and Francis moved to San Francisco in 1967, settling in Novato. He worked for Sloan's until the closing of the store on Sutter Street in 1985. Peter and Frances Martin were members of the founding congregation of Saint Anthony of Padua parish in Novato. Their two sons, Peter and Michael, made him a proud grandfather of six wonderful children. He was also blessed with many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Frances, gone now 23 years and is survived by his sister, Katherine, who lives in Florida. Peter was a lifelong golfer, a member and past president of the Marin Country Club in Novato, and a past president of the San Francisco Floor Covering Club. A loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and dear friend to many, he will be remembered for his wit, his charm and his love of life. Services will be held on August 14 at Saint Anthony Of Padua Church, in Novato, at 2:00 pm. He will be laid to rest at Valley Memorial Park.
