Robert Freeman Habit

Robert Freeman Habit, 99, entered rest on his birthday March 16, 2023, in Novato, California. He was born in San Francisco on March 16, 1924. In heaven he joins his parents Leon and Florence Habit and his granddaughter Elizabeth Antle.

Robert is survived by his loving wife Jeannette Habit who he was married to for over 36 years, his brother George Habit, his four children: Diane Rosenstine, Bob Habit (Barbara), Ron Habit (Addie), and Sandra Antle (Stuart). He has five grandchildren: Eric Rosenstine (Isabel), Michele Sparks (Jason), Devin Habit (Jessica), Edward Antle and Justin Habit (Cynthia) and 5 great-grandchildren, Tyler Rosenstine, Tyson Sparks, Austin Rosenstine, Siena Rosenstine, and April Sparks. Along with 2 step-children, James Khoi Waller (Nadine), Julie Walker (Rodney), and 4 step grandchildren: Tyler Waller, Jenna Waller, Sterling Walker, and Ella Walker.

Robert served in World War II in the South Pacific, one of the last of the “Greatest Generation”. He was employed as an insurance adjuster with Fireman’s Fund for over 25 years and loved helping his clients. He enjoyed traveling to Europe with his wife Jeannette, golfing and spending time with family and friends. Robert had enormous charm and a great sense of humor. He will be remembered for his vivacious laughter, as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He will be deeply missed.

A funeral will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at Our Lady of Loretto Catholic Church 1806 Novato Blvd., Novato, CA 94947. He will be laid to rest at a private burial at Skylawn Cemetery.

Robert suffered from Macular Degeneration, a progressive eye disease that caused him to lose his vision.
