Ruby A. Baker Ruby was born in Colorado on May 7, 1915, to George and Edith Turner and passed away on August 12, 2013, at the age of 98. She graduated from nursing school and received her R.N. degree. Later she went on to receive her Master's degree in nursing. She was married to Russell Fewell in 1938, and the couple had two daughters. Russell died in 1951, leaving Ruby a single parent. She worked as a school nurse in La Canada and later in Long Beach. She chose school nursing so that she could be home with her daughters after school and during the summer. Her career in school nursing lasted 26 years until her retirement. Ruby remarried in 1977 to Glenn Baker, and moved to his home in Prather, California. Glenn came equipped with an entire additional family for Ruby, which she embraced enthusiastically. Glenn and Ruby moved to Friant, California in 2002. They belonged to the Clovis Seventh Day Adventist church, where Ruby volunteered as a greeter and as a visitor to people confined to their homes. After 28 years of marriage, Glenn passed away in 2006. In 2012 Ruby moved to Novato, California to be near her daughter. She lived at Deer Park Retirement Community, where she made many friends among the residents and staff. Ruby was known to those who loved her as a compassionate, cheerful, strong, independent woman. She will be sorely missed by her family and by her many friends. In addition to her two husbands, Ruby was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Kizziar and her two brothers, Glen and Earl Turner. She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn (Ralph) Jacobs; son-in-law John Kizziar; sister, Peggy (John) Cornelius; grandchildren, Claire Jacobs, Jon (Denise Laws) Jacobs, Cheryl (David) Heiman, Lori Hesse, John (Debbie) Kizziar, Ronald (Tamara) Kizziar, Karin (Ross) Simonds; stepsons, Glenn (Patricia) Baker, Kevin (Quenette) Baker and stepdaughter Anne (David) Powell; step grandchildren Valerie (Alan) Williams, Christopher (Laurie) Baker, Kathleen (Jeff) Birkle; 21 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and friends. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday September 28 at 3:00 PM at the Seventh Day Adventist church, 495 San Marin Drive, Novato. Under the direction of Keaton's Redwood Chapel.
