Barbara Wazny

Barbara was born on April 21, 1944, in Chicago, Illinois, to John and Louise (Bazon) Potempa. She grew up in Chicago and later retired in LaPorte, Indiana. She married Ronald Wazny on May 8, 1977, and together they shared nearly 30 years of marriage. They raised their son, Jason Wazny, and enjoyed taking road trips together, especially to Canada.

Barbara is remembered as a kind, caring, and loving wife and mother who was always there for her family. She enjoyed watching her beloved Chicago Cubs and doing crossword puzzles. Above all, she cherished time spent with family and friends.

Barbara is survived by her son, Jason (Kim) Wazny; and her grandchildren, Declan Wazny and Tyler Laird. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald; her brother, Bernard Potempa; her sisters-in-law, Norma Wasilik and Margaret Dawson; and her cousin, Luanne Gagliano.

Visitation will be held at Chapel Hill Gardens South Funeral Home, located at 11333 South Central Ave, Oak Lawn, IL, 60453, on December 14, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Prayers will take place at the same venue on December 15, 2025, from 10:00 am to 10:15 am.

Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Gardens South Funeral Home & Cemetery, 11333 S Central Ave, Oak Lawn, IL, 60453, on December 15, 2025, from 10:15 am to 10:30 am.
