
Maria J. Pazoles, nee Katsaros, age 82. Late of Oak Lawn. At rest September 3, 2010. Loving mother of Chris (Pamela) and Bill (Stephanie) Pazoles. Dearest grandmother of Katherine, Matthew, Nicholas (Heather) and Alexandra Pazoles. Fond sister of Eunice (George) Karambelas, George (Fran) Katsaros and Dean (Bess) Katsaros. Aunt of many nieces and nephews. Life-long dedicated member of St. Helen’s Philoptochos Society of SS. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church. She served on the current Board of Directors. In 2002 Maria founded the groups Quiltathon project that, under her direction, has provided thousands of comforting quilts to hospitalized children in Chicagoland, other parts of the US and several foreign countries. A loving, giving person of many talents, Maria was a creative milliner when hat wearing was in style and, in mid-life, trained at the University of Illinois and became a dental assistant. She then boldly launched a florist business operating out of three locations. Maria will be remembered for the unconditional love and support she gave to all and, of course, her unending stream of projects. Funeral service will be Wednesday at 11 am. Relatives and friends are asked to meet directly at SS. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 11025 S. Roberts Road in Palos Hills. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 pm at Chapel Hill Gardens South Funeral Home, 11333 S. Central Ave. Oak Lawn. Trisagion Service will be at 6:15 pm.
