Heaven has gained a true warrior. We rejoice for Gary knowing he is now free of this life's pain, both physical and mental. Gary fought a good fight, has finished his course and has kept the faith. His relationship with Jesus was real and he never hesitated to remind all of us of how much Jesus loves us. Gary said this with conviction because he meant it, and he was right. He was courteous about all beliefs but a dedicated Christian.
He read the paper all the time, daily. He watched football, every game, every team. Of course, his favorite team was the Chicago Bears. Gary was fun, funny, liked to laugh and joke around. Gary loved to tease his siblings (Dennis, Kathie, Laura, Anna Marie and Christina). We have many great stories! He protected his sisters from anyone that would tease or hurt them. Gary was affectionate, loved to hold hands. His grip was so firm, we thought he would break our hands!!!! Oh, how we miss that grip today.
Gary was empathetic and compassionate towards the other residents of the nursing home where he resided. He shared his possessions, comforted those in need and prayed for each of them. We heard the story of how Gary held the hand of an upset patient, calming this patient immediately.
He liked 70's rock and Gospel music.
He was a gifted athlete in high school – football and wrestling. Gary was a Willowbrook Warrior for years and was affectionately called ‘the stud’ by his sister Kathie. His knowledge for sports and politics was astonishing! He followed both closely and could spew off names, stats, and knew the names of world leaders and the titles they held.
Gary loved his parents, George (proceeded in death February 23, 2020) and mother Eleanor.
His beautiful brown eyes lit up a room and is laugh was contagious. We will miss him but know we will see him again.
Jesus Loves You.
