I have so many precious memories of Jean.  I lived with Jean in Beirut in the '60s and have always kept in touch with her through the years.....we each lived in many different places but ended up in Illinois & Wisconsin (where we started).  I remember her as kind, sincere, intelligent, beautiful, and a fun person.  So sorry to hear she passed away.   Our deepest sympathy to the family.

A very special and compassionate human being allowed me to speak to Aunt Jean the afternoon before her passing even though she was unresponsive. Because the hearing is the last to go before we take our last breath, I wanted her to know she was loved and a strong woman. I would like to believe she heard me.
When I was told she passed that evening, I felt so many emotions. As my brother Reid stated, she was many different things to all of us.
I, personally will miss talking and hearing her voice after spending many years listening about her childhood, brothers and sisters, adulthood, marriages, traveling and oh, so much more. I remember her telling me as a child she had a keyboard that was made out of cardboard that she spent long hours practicing on it. Later in life she was in several choirs as I was told she had quite a voice. She traveled all over the country and wine and dined with the Kennedy’s. She told me about our heritage. Our long talks were endless and heartfelt.  But more importantly it was her wisdom that I will always treasure.
Although Aunt Jean was very sensitive, reclusive later in life and strong willed at times she was genuine, quick witted, admirable, intelligent, kind hearted, and wise. She was clearly a classy lady who left us with many memorable memories. 


There is a lot or a little to be said about the end of an era. For those who remember Aunt Jean, she was our last surviving Aunt from the Paxson Family and the youngest of our Grandparents children. To some, due to the age difference, she could have very well been an older sister. Jean was many different things to each of us. To myself, I found her funny, stubborn, and extremely intelligent.  Her life was not without its rewards and failures. We live in uncertain times, and her passing certainly expresses that sentiment, but Jean’s life, as were our parents, was every bit as ambiguous. I will miss her, not just because of who she was, but also because she is an end of a chapter in a generational story, that I fear will fade away with little notice and memory.   


Aunt Jean..... When I met Marty and Carole, both their parents were deceased. You helped me bridge the gap since it was never meant to be for me to have in-laws. Thank you for welcoming me into the Paxson family 14 years ago. ♡ Mary and Marty
