Linda, my dear friend, my "adopted" mom.

You became part of my life while I was in high school. You were the sweet mom of my friends, Rick & Randy. The thing is, our relationship didn't fizzle out like some of my other Von Drasek relationships did . In fact, our relationship grew into something incredibly unique, a blessing beyond words.

Through the years, you played such an important part in my life. You never turned me away; you loved & accepted me for who I was, flaws and all. You welcomed me into your family & always made me feel like you wanted to be a part of my life. You were there for me with open arms & an open heart when I didn't feel others were.

I had the best of both worlds by having you as my dear friend & sweet "adopted" mom. 

Family isn't always blood.
They are the people in your life that want you in theirs; the ones who accept you for who you are.
The ones that would do anything to see you smile, and love you no matter what.

I have beautiful memories to remember you by, 
but my heart will ache until we meet again.

Linda thank you for the memories and keeping the house on Virginia an open house for  family and friends all year long.

You never wanted to impose on anyone and wanted to have all the holiday dinners just like your parents did.  Your home was open to anyone, the fun place to be!

The Holidays and Birthdays were more then giving or receiving gifts.  They put a sparkle in your eyes.  Planning sign-a-longs and parlor games made you seem almost child like.

Your love for fireworks, Easter eggs hunts for the kids and grandkids.  Hiding eggs was a challenge since you filled and hid  200-215 eggs.  The kids had to count their eggs and you'd get the total and if it didn't add up everyone would look for the missing eggs until all accounted for.

Halloween was another special time for you having parties and creating your own costumes which used to bring you 1st place at work every year.  The games pin the nose on the pumpkin, bobbing for apples and the famous and your favorite Bozo Buckets and more.

So we all thank you Linda, Mother, Sister, Sister-In-Law, Grandmother, Aunt and Friend for the great memories and life lessons in what's important in life.  Family & Friends and Laughter.

If you knew my Sister you knew that her whole life revolved around her Children and her Family.  Something you had to admire.
She loved being a Mother and a Grandmother and this is what fulfilled her. 
My whole life I witnessed her Deep Love and Devotion to her Children.  She gave her absolute all through some very difficult times.  Never wavering and always putting THEM before herself.
An example of Love and Selflessness. The enduring love and devotion for all her Family is a precious gift she has left with us.
I'm not sure she even realized that she was the center and glue to our Family.
A lover of tradition.  She would host all the Holidays.  The annual Halloween party. Costumes required and the annual Luau. So much fun and craziness.
This is what she wanted.  Having all her family together.  We had so much fun and have these great memories.  And all because of her Love.
I do so wish she was still here with us physically.  But her life became so challenging these last several months I know she is at peace now.
She is my Big Sister and throughout her life was a role model to me of what was important and what it is to love.
The Bond with my Sister's cannot be broken by death.  It's much more powerful than that.
I feel her Spirit, Love and Light in my heart and I will be forever grateful  that she is my Big Sister.

It's hard to believe that your gone. Life for all of us changed the moment you took your last breath.  It's was hard not only on you but for your family to see you struggling and getting worse everyday.  I hope you are in a better place.  Pain free no longer attached to a 50' hose that helped you breath.  

You were not just my Sister but my very Best Friend.  A part of me is missing now that you are gone.  I will miss our daily (several that is) phone calls or texts.  Checking up on each other to be sure we were okay. Our way of caring of each other.  My life will never be the same without you.

You were one of the most  independent people I know.  Never ask for help  But the first one to step up and help everyone else.  One of the most unselfish caring people I know.  You did things because you wanted to and never expected anything in return.  

You were a Great Mom, Sister, Sister-in-law, Aunt and Friend to us all.  You loved your family more than anything.  Our  family traditions were continued because of you.  

Thank you for all you did for me.  You were one of the few people I know I could count on.  

I Love You and there won't be a day that I won't miss you and hope well be together again some day.  

As you would say you are Always in my heart.

GOOD MORNING,
MY FAMILY AND I WANT TO THANK ALL OF YOU FOR BEING HERE TODAY TO CELEBRATE OUR MOM.  WE ALWAYS KNEW WHAT AN AMAZING, GENEROUS AND KIND WOMAN SHE WAS, AND THIS LAST WEEK, THE OUTPOURING OF LOVE AND SUPPORT HAS PROVEN THIS TO BE TRUE.  I'VE BEEN OFFERED THE OPPORTUNITY TO SPEAK FOR A FEW MINUTES ABOUT MY MOTHER, WHOSE LIFE WE ARE CELEBRATING HERE TODAY TOGETHER. I REALIZED AS I SET ABOUT THIS TASK, THAT A SON SEES HIS MOTHER IN A DIFFERENT CONTEXT THAN THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE LIFELONG FRIENDS OR PROFESSIONAL COLLEAGUES. IT IS EVEN DIFFICULT TO SPEAK ON BEHALF OF MY SIBLINGS BUT I WILL TRY TO REPRESENT THE SHARED FEELINGS OF LOVE, DEVOTION AND ADMIRATION WE ALL FELT TOWARDS OUR MOTHER. 
I HONESTLY DO NOT KNOW HOW I CAN ADEQUATELY DESCRIBE OUR MOM WITH WORDS.  SHE LIVED HER LIFE IN THE MOST POSITIVE WAY.  SHE SAW THE GOOD IN EVERYTHING AND ENCOURAGED OTHERS TO DO THE SAME. HER ACTIONS AND THE INCREDIBLE EXAMPLE THAT SHE SHOWED HER CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN ARE BEHAVIORS THAT SHOULD BE EMULATED BY ALL OF US.  SHE WAS A TRUE ROLE MODEL.  A PERSON WHO POSSESSED QUALITIES WE SHOULD ALL TRY TO IMITATE.
MY MOTHER CARED DEEPLY FOR EVERYONE SHE KNEW, WHETHER YOU WERE HER FAMILY, FRIEND OR A MEMBER OF THE COMMUNITY.  SHE WAS ALWAYS WILLING TO HELP OUT SOMEONE IN NEED.  SHE HAD THE KINDEST HEART OF ANYONE WE KNEW. HER HOUSE WAS ALWAYS FILLED WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY.  ALL OF OUR FRIENDS CALLED HER MOM, BECAUSE SHE WAS LIKE A MOM TO EVERYONE.
SHE WAS A PERSON SO FILLED WITH LIGHT.  EVERYONE WHO KNEW HER LOVED HER.  
SHE WAS A GENEROUS, LOVING, SUPPORTIVE AND UNSELFISH WOMAN WHO ALWAYS PUT OTHER PEOPLE BEFORE HERSELF.  SHE WAS CHARITABLE, GIVING, CONSIDERATE AND KIND. 
AS A PARENT AND FRIEND, MY MOTHER HAD AN EXTRAORDINARY ABILITY TO MAKE EACH OF US FEEL STRONGER AND MORE CONFIDENT IN OUR OWN IDENTITY, GIVING US OUR OWN SENSE OF INDEPENDENCE AND MENTAL TOUGHNESS WHICH, SPEAKING FOR MYSELF, HAS BEEN SUCH AN ASSET IN SO MANY WAYS IN MY LIFE. SHE WILL LIVE IN OUR MEMORIES AND OUR HEARTS FOREVER AND WILL ALWAYS BE EXTREMELY PROUD TO CALL MYSELF THE SON OF LINDA LAURIE VON DRASEK THE GREATEST MOM EVER.

I LOVED HER WITH ALL MY HEART AND WILL TRULY MISS HER.
I AM LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE MORE MEMORIES OF MY MOTHER THAN I COULD EVER SHARE, AND SO TODAY I AM PAINTING A PICTURE OF HER WITH THE BROADEST OF BRUSHES, A TIMELINE OF MOMENTS THAT FLASH TO THE FRONT WHEN I CLOSE MY EYES.
I CAN REMEMBER AS A LITTLE BOY MOM, SHE WAS ALWAYS THERE FOR US, SHE WOULD TAKE US TO THE PARK, TAKE US ICE SKATING, COME TO ALL OUR SPORTING EVENTS. SHE WAS THERE FOR US ALWAYS. SHE WAS JUST SO GIVING. SOME PEOPLE SAY THAT FAMILY IS IMPORTANT AND OTHERS DON'T NEED TO SAY IT. MY MOM DIDN'T NEED TO TELL US ALL HOW MUCH FAMILY MEANT TO HER, BECAUSE IT WAS VERY APPARENT THAT WE WERE THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF LIFE TO HER. SHE SHOWED US THAT FAMILY MATTERS AND THAT IS HOW SHE LIVED HER LIFE, SHE PUT HER FAMILY FIRST; ALL US KIDS FIRST BEFORE HER SELF. AND DON'T GET ME STARTED WITH CHRISTMAS, THANKSGIVING, EASTER, HALLOWEEN, NEW YEARS, AND SUMMER SWIM PARTIES. 
LITTERALLY NOTHING PUT ON A BIGGER SMILE ON MOMS FACE THAN HAVING ALL HER FAMILY AROUND HER. I AM SO EVER THANKFUL TO HAVE MOM AS MY MOM. IF I CAN EVEN BE ONE TENTH OF THE PARENT TO MY KIDS AS SHE WAS TO US, THEN I AM AHEAD OF THE GAME. 
ANOTHER SPECIAL MEMORY I WANT TO SHARE IS WHEN MOM WOULD GO ON SUMMER VACATION WITH US. MOM WOULD GO TO THE DELLS WITH US, NOW TRY TO IMAGINE THIS , WE WOULD GO TO THE WISCOSNIN DELLS, RENT  A SMALL ONE , SOMETIMES TWO BEDROOM CABIN AND CRAM 10 PEOPLE IN THIS CABIN FOR A WEEK. IT WOULD BE MOM, ME, NATALIE, HOLLY, HANNAH, RICKY, HALEY, EMILY, RACHEL, AND HELMUT, 10 PEOPLE, ONE BATHROOM, TALK ABOUT CLOSE KNIT FAMILY.  MOM DID THIS FOR YEARS WITH US, THIS WAS SO MUCH FUN, SHE NEVER COMPLAINED AND ALWAYS JUST WENT WITH THE FLOW, SHE DIDN'T LET THE LITTLE THINGS BOTHER HER. I CAN STILL JUST CLOSE MY EYES AND SEE MOM SITTING BY THE POOL SIDE.  HERES ANOTHER VISUAL WE MIGHT ALL BE ABLE TO VISUALIZE , REMEMBER THE MOVIE CADDIE SHACK AND THE POOL SCENE, WELL LETS JUST SAY THAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN THE POOL THEY USED FOR THE MOVIE, IF YOU DON'T REMEMBER MAYBE WATCH THE MOVIE AGAIN TO SEE WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT.





THE OTHER AWESOME VACTION WE HAD WITH MOM IS THE ONE WHERE WE WENT TO TENNESSEE, THE SMOKEY MOUNTAINS WITH MOM. WE RENTED A HOUSE ON THE MOUNTAIN, THIS PLACE WAS AWESOME. THE DRIVEWAY WAS SO STEEPE, YOU KINDA FELT LIKE YOU MIGHT ACTUALLY TIP OVER, KINDA SCARY. I REMEMBER THIS JUST LIKE IT WAS YESTERDAY, THE LOOK ON MOMS FACE WHEN WE WOULD GO UP THE DRIVEWAY, AND WHAT SHE SAID,  SHE SAID OH RICK YOU BETTER SLOW DOWN AND HER HANDS WOULD BE OUT IN FRON OF HER STRETCHED OUT.  KINDA FUNNY, MY KIDS WOULD LAUGH AND TO BE QUITE HONEST I DID TOO, I LOVE MY MOM SO MUCH.
THOSE ARE JUST A FEW OF THE TIMES I WANTED TO SHARE, MY MOM IS A INCREDIBLE PERSON, IM NOT GOING TO SAY WAS BECAUSE SHE WILL FOREVER BE WITH ME IN MY HEART.
HOWEVER, IT WASN'T UNTIL I HAD MY OWN CHILDREN THAT I BEGAN TO REALLY UNDERSTAND WHAT IT WAS THAT MADE HER DO THE THINGS THAT SHE DID. TO LOVE THE WAY SHE LOVED, BOLD AND CONSTANT. I WAS A FATHER IN AN INSTANT AND IT HIT ME WITH THE STRONGEST BLAST OF EMOTION, THE CLEAREST THOUGHT, I HAVE EVER KNOWN, WHICH WAS FOLLOWED IMMEDIATELY BY INCREDIBLE GUILT. THIS IS HOW MY PARENTS FEEL? IT FLOORED ME TO THINK THAT ANYONE COULD FEEL FOR ME WHAT I FELT FOR MY KIDS AT THAT MOMENT. AND THAT IS WHEN MOM BECAME NANA, AND SHE TOOK IT ALL UP SEVERAL NOTCHES. SHE WAS BORN TO BE A GRANDPARENT, AND MY KIDS HOLLY, HANNAH, RICKY AND HALEY HAD THE PRIVILEGE OF FEELING HER LOVE AND SUPPORT.

I WOULD LIKE TO INJECT A LITTLE SOMETHING HERE IF YOU WOULD LET ME ... RIGHT NOW IT IS VERY HARD FOR ME TO STAND HERE AND TRY TO SUM UP HER LIFE IN JUST A FEW WORDS AND EVERYTHING SHE WAS AND MEANT TO EVERY ONE, BUT MORE ESPECIALLY TO ME. AND YES, I WANT TO BE SO SELFISH AND SPEAK OF WHAT SHE MEANT TO ME AND MY LIFE AND ALL THE POSITIVE AND WONDERFUL INFLUENCES SHE BROUGHT TO MY LIFE ... BUT I PROMISED , I WOULD BEHAVE TODAY. ... I REALLY DON'T WANT TO BUT I'LL BE A GOOD BOY JUST FOR NOW ...

I am heartbroken for your loss. I wish that I could have been there today to celebrate such an amazing woman. I know what an important figure she has always been in the lives of her children and grandchildren.  She will be truly missed.

  I'm not quite sure how to put in words ...

 I couldn't have asked for a better Mother-in-Law. When I married into the family 15 years ago, she welcomed me and Holly with open arms, smiles and hugs. Linda became a Nana within a few short years to 3 more Grandchildren. She was the Best Nana to Holly, Hannah, Ricky and Haley.
 When the kids were little we invited her to come on our Summer Vacations to The Wisconsin Dells along with the cousins, Emily, Rachael and Helmut. We have so many AWESOME memories that we will hold dear to our hearts. We continued that tradition for many years to come. She was always Happy to come with (even if it was very stressful at times with 7 Grandchildren, a Son and Daughter-in-Law all in a 1 bedroom 1 bath cottage). We always Loved having her with us!
 We enjoyed spending many summers swimming in her pool and coming in for the Hawaiian Luau Parties for her Birthday.
 We enjoyed all the Holidays eating her wonderful homemade Ravioli, Mostaccioli and the Occasional Portillos Beef. All which are now my kids Favorite Foods!
 As the kids grew older, we became busier and busier with school and activities. She always wanted to know when the kids had a Sporting Event so she could be there to support them, rain or shine! And if she couldn't make it, we had better send pictures or videos as she never wanted to miss anything.
 She will be Dearly missed but NEVER forgotten. Every Holiday Tradition will remain dear to us as that is what we looked forward to the most. Spending the Holiday's at Nanas House with all the Cousins and Family! We have so many Special Memories that will remain deep in our hearts and we know she is now resting in a Better, Peaceful and Everlasting Place as only a TRUE ANGEL could do.

About 10 years ago when I was visiting the Chicago are Linda and I had breakfast together at the hotel in Oak Brook.  We had so much fun remembering our childhood together at Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners every other year and having our families together.  It was such a joy and my special memory of her.  My love and prayers are with all of you who also had the pleasure of knowing my cousin.  God be with you all.

I was extremely happy to work with you for 27 years.  You were the absolute best worker in the Wagner office.  I especially remember our Wagner  Halloweens.  You always had great homemade costumes.  Two of my favorites were the girl in the swimsuit and the lady with the Red Hat.  You were so great with your kids and your grand kids you could see the love and fondness in their eyes.  You will be missed!!  I wish there were more people like you LInda, this world would be a much better place.

She was a great woman. She will be missed. Love and prayers to all of our family
