

Sister Willie Pearl McIntosh affectionately called “Pearl” was born on December 15, 1958 in Mound Bayou, Mississippi to the late Beatrice Lewis. She was the seventh child of eight siblings. She was preceded in death by her mother Beatrice Lewis and four sisters Lorene Hooks, Henry B. Lewis, Edna Lunford and Carolyn Wiggins.
Pearl confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized at Gospel Temple in Rosedale, Mississippi. She migrated from Mississippi to Chicago, Illinois and joined Broadview Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorage of Clarence W. Hopson where she served faithfully as a Sunday school teacher and sang praises to God in the Wednesday night Sanctuary Choir. Pearl also attended the Bible Study classes.
Pearl later joined Peoples Community Church under the pastorage of Dr. James E. Shannon. She served in various positions such as church clerk, Sunday school teacher and Core Team Member where she assisted the pastor in the counseling ministry and served as the chairperson for one of the church’s anniversaries. Pearl always served wherever she was needed. Her positive energy was infectious. Pearl was the epitome of southern grace and gentility.
Pearl received a high school diploma from West Bolivar High School in Rosedale, Mississippi. Other educational accomplishments included a Bachelor of Art (Social Work) from Delta State University and a Master of Art (Social Work) from Loyola University Chicago.
Pearl met the man who captured her heart, Virgil McIntosh, and they were married March 22, 2008. They launched a life of shared blessings, mutual respect and complete fulfillment.
She departed her earthly home for eternal life on Friday, April 28, 2023 at Edwards Hospital located in Naperville, Illinois.
Pearl leaves to honor and cherish her memory: her devoted husband Virgil of Downers Grove, IL; son ~ Rodregus (LaKesha) of Bellwood, IL; stepsons ~ Mario McIntosh, Aaron McIntosh (Abigale) of Oak Brook, IL; four grandchildren ~ Brandon Johnson, Najee Hudson, Kailo Moore, Armahni Bradley; three great grandchildren ~ Legacy Moore, Aria McIntosh and Gianna McIntosh; two sisters ~ Gertrude Perry of Washington D.C.; Betty Baker of Detroit, MI.; one (1) brother ~ Freeman Lewis of Long Beach, CA.; Mother-in-law ~ Mrs. Ella McIntosh, Aldens Estates of Naperville, IL; Peoples Community Church family; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and relatives.
Although Pearl has passed, let us draw strength from her example to build on her gifts and continue to grow in Christ.
A visitation for Pearl will be held Friday, May 5, 2023 from 10:00 AM until time of Funeral Services 11:00 AM at Peoples Community Church, 670 S. Lambert Rd., Glen Ellyn.
