Richard Wayne Hargrove

It is with great sadness that the family of Richard W. Hargrove announce his passing on January 11th, 2026 at the age of 41. Richard, known as Riky by his friends, was born on April 24, 1984, in Grass Valley, CA. His parents are Timothy Hargrove and Sandra Hargrove (Ghyselinck-Dow). Richard has two brothers, Glenn Hargrove and Tyler Hargrove. Riky moved to Oakhurst, CA in 1988 with his family. He attended Wasuma Elementary School. During his high school years, he attended Nevada Union high school in Grass Valley, CA and graduated in 2003. He had an interest in painting cars. During high school he worked at Hughes Body and Fender and studied how to prep cars for painting. In 2003, He returned to Oakhurst to live. He worked as an oil technician at Eagle Quick Lube for three years. In 2008 he decided to join the family business that his grandparents, Gilbert and Dolores Ghyselinck owned and operated, the Best Western Plus Yosemite Gateway Inn in Oakhurst, CA. Riky worked on the property maintenance team and the laundry facility team for seventeen years. Riky loved dogs and always had a dog by his side. Riky’s all-time favorite thing to do was to go tent camping in the woods anytime he could get away. He always brought with him steak and bacon to cook on the open fire. He would go camping and fishing by himself with the dogs but also enjoyed company of Dusty and the boys when they were available. Ricky also enjoyed BBQing at home with various meats and making jerky. He also liked growing a garden. For a few years, he planted pumpkins and was trying to grow the biggest, heaviest pumpkins possible. Riky had a big smile for everybody, and he was kind and loving. We will all miss him very much. He will be in our hearts forever. May he rest in eternal peace with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.

There will be a Celebration of Life on February 21, 2026 at 2:30 pm at the Oakhurst Grill located at the Best Western Plus Yosemite Gateway Inn, located at 40530 Highway 41, Oakhurst Ca. 93644. All friends and family are invited.
