Bea was the eldest daughter of Ben Siegman and Ethel (Shane) Siegman. She and her sisters Mildred and Arlene grew up in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. They enjoyed summers at their grandfather's farm in Monticello, NY. Bea married Ben Barr in 1941. After Ben returned from World War II, Bea and Ben had two children, Robert (born 1947) and Carol (born 1950). They settled in Far Rockaway, Queens. Bea worked as a secretary in law offices, doctors' offices, and schools.
Bea married her second husband, Alvin Kaskowitz, in 1979. They retired to Florida in 1981, living first in Naranja, FL and later in Pembroke Pines, FL. There, Bea was active in the community. She was president of her Hadassah chapter, worked for the community newspaper, and served as an officer on her condominium board. Bea loved to needlepoint and knit. She frequently visited and hosted her daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was known for her love of Chinese food, chocolate, and books. She could always be found enjoying the Florida sunshine. She always spoke her mind. Later in her life, Bea lived in Hollywood, FL and Wildwood, FL.
Bea is survived by her daughter Carol (Barr) Elliott and her husband Thomas, of New York, NY; by her son Robert Barr and his wife Terri, of Port St. Lucie, FL; by her sister Arlene (Siegman) Rothman and her husband Stanley, of Bayside, NY; and by six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, three nieces, and one nephew.
