

Chris was raised in Augusta, Georgia and graduated from the Academy of Richmond County in 1938. Shortly after graduating, he moved to Detroit, Michigan and enlisted in the U.S. Navy on August 5, 1942. He was promoted to Second Class Petty Officer after graduating from two specialist schools and served as Petty Officer First Class in Charge of the hydraulic crew with CASU units at several naval bases.
He left the Navy on November 16, 1945 and went to work for the General Motors as a Quality Control Inspector at the Detroit Diesel facility for 29 years. He retired on September 1, 1983. In addition to working at General Motors, he had a Real Estate Salesman license and a income tax business called the In Home Tax service. Upon retirement he decided to move to St. Petersburg, FL where he enjoyed playing golf, traveling and spending time with his grandchildren. His love for golf carried over to managing several miniature golf courses throughout the St. Pete area. One was called Paradise Miniature Golf Course on St. Petersburg Beach and the other was located at the pier in downtown St. Petersburg. He was a non-denominational “Born Again” Christian and was the author of the book “Ten False Doctrines Being Taught in Some of the Churches Today. He also has a website with his book online at www.thebibletruths.net. He was a lifetime member of the D.A.V. He was a boy scout and a committeeman for the cub scouts. He was predeceased by his sons: Gregory Papazian, Chris Papazian Jr. Survivors are spouse: Jean Papazian, daughters: Melody Lopez and her husband Marc, Victoria Ware and her husband Hank. Grandchildren: Jennifer Duncan and her husband Preston, Alex Lopez, Christian Lopez, Great –Grandchild : Cylis Duncan, Brother: Dennis Papazian and his wife Mary. Nieces and Nephews: Elise Papazian , Louise Yardumian and her husband Haig, Ani Papazian, Marie Papazian, Leon Sarkisian and his wife Sharon, Garo Papazian and his wife Donna.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made in Mr. Papazian loving memory to Disabled American Veterans, Chapter #13 of Pinellas County, FL. or Annual Lenten Retreat at St. John's Armenian Church.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:45 AM , Saturday, April 17, 2010 at the Peacefield Mausoleum Chapel in Sylvan Abbey Cemetery, 2860 Sunset Point, Clearwater, FL 33759. Flowers can be sent to the above address on Saturday, April 17, 2010.
