December 20, 1938 – June 23, 2025
Constance “Connie” Elaine Conrad, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on June 23, 2025. Born on December 20, 1938, in Oswego, New York, Connie lived a life full of warmth, compassion, and unwavering love for her family.
Connie was the cherished daughter of Frederick Peglow and Verna Irwin, and the granddaughter of Earl and Ethel Irwin, and Bertha and Albert Peglow. She is survived by her devoted siblings, Frederick “Fritz” Peglow and Linda DiCaprio, and her loving husband, Clarence “Spig” Conrad, with whom she shared a beautiful life since their marriage on May 7, 1986.
Before finding her soulmate in Spig, Connie had already embraced motherhood with her children Daniel and Les Bennington. Her daughter Shelly preceded her in death, a loss she carried with grace and strength. With Spig, she gained three more children—Joanna, Karen, and Veronica Conrad—whom she welcomed with open arms and a full heart.
Connie’s legacy lives on through her many grandchildren, each of whom she adored deeply: Christopher (Hannah), Brian (Ashley), Andrew, and Adam Bennington; Nicole Aziminia (Ryan); Melissa (Matt) and Kari Campbell; and Clarence Pacelli. She was also preceded in death by her grandsons Nathan Lilley and Les Jr. Bennington.
Connie’s early years were filled with the simple joys of nature—long walks in the woods, berry picking, and sun-drenched days at the beach. She carried that love of the outdoors throughout her life, always finding peace in the sun on her skin, the sand beneath her feet, and the vastness of the ocean before her—especially when she was hand in hand with someone she loved.
Like many in her community, Connie found work at Eastman Kodak, where she built a career and lifelong friendships. But it was at the age of 53 that she fulfilled a lifelong dream and became a nurse. Her knowledge, intuition, and care were unmatched—there was never an ailment she couldn’t soothe or a symptom she didn’t understand.
Above all, Connie loved her family. Her home was a sanctuary of laughter, comfort, and unconditional love. She was the heart of every gathering, the keeper of traditions, the source of endless wisdom and warmth, and the bearer of a wit that could light up a room and lift any spirit.
Memorial services will be held at a later date and communicated directly to the family.
Connie’s life was a testament to love, resilience, and the quiet power of kindness. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
