

Marion county native, Elizabeth Waters Perry Moody, died May 20, 2013 at the age of 95. She was born December 31, 1917 at Munroe Memorial Hospital of Ocala to parents Charlotte Perry and James Julian Waters. She was the great granddaughter of one of Pedro, Florida’s founding families, Peter Boyer Perry and wife Elizabeth Duke. Peter’s son Robert J. Perry and Robert’s wife Jane Fai Gibson were her grandparents and among the early farming families of that area.
She was a graduate of Massey Business College in Jacksonville and worked in the finance department for the city of Ocala for over 20 years. She was a member of Belleview United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. She was an excellent seamstress, chef,, gardener, family historian, homemaker, matriarch, mentor and caregiver. She counseled her family on parenting, careers, duty, honor, and respect for others. She became a true steward of the earth and it’s creatures as evidenced by her support of the Nature Conservancy. Above all, he devotion to her faith, family and friends was the driving force and passion in her life. We are blessed to have been loved by such a wonderful woman and will treasure and cherich her memory. She was preceded in death be her first husband Charlton Perry, second husband Bruce R. Moody, Her step-son Harry Moody, and her daughter Jan Perry Blanchard. Survivors include step-daughter Virginia Moody Gwaltney (Joe), and their son Jeff Gwaltney, daughter Jennifer Griffiths (Dave) and daughters Jordyn and Emily all of Belleview. A son Hugh C. Perry (Peggy) and their sons Roger, Charlton (Courtney) and their son Ben all of Austin, TX. Son-in-law Robert C. Blanchard of Raleigh and his son Walker of Wake Forest and daughter Martha Carr (John) and children Kaycee and Jack from Point Cook, Australia. A daughter Charleen P. Yarborough (James) of Belleview, and their son Spencer and fiancée Karey Carlton of Melbourne, FL, also their daughter Leigh McCullough (Bob) and their daughter Sydney of Buford, GA. Extended family Virginia Mann Sigman (Tom) of Ocala, their son Dwayne of Jacksonville a daughter Karen Pinner and her daughter Jenny of Palatka. The family extends deepest thanks to Higher Ground Assisted Living Facility for providing unsurpassed physical, emotional, social and spiritual support during Elizabeth’s residency under their loving care. We are also indebted to Hospice of Marion County for their tender care in Elizabeth’s last days. Funeral services will be on Friday May 24, 2013 at 10:00am at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. A gathering in Celebration of Life including Lunch will follow after the service at the Belleview Historical Society Building, 5920 Stetson Rd. (East side of Lake Lillian). Pleas join us for lunch even if you are unable to attend the service. Sharing memories and fellowship are so appreciated at this time.
