

Gerry moved from North Carolina to Washington, D.C. as a young girl and later met her husband, Dale. They were married in 1951 and raised three children together. She worked for The U.S. Forestry Service as well as The National Institute of Health for 25 years until she retired and moved to The Villages in 1992. She was a champion duckpin bowler, and an excellent golfer. She enjoyed travelling the world with her husband and children and enjoyed time at their vacation homes, both in Shenandoah Farms, VA. and in Ocean City, MD. Gerry was extremely caring and loyal toward her family. She had a wonderful sense of humor and laughed emphatically, bringing a smile to everyone around her. She was tenacious and always had a sense of purpose and drive in her everyday life.
She is survived by her husband Dale, their three children, Pamela Kelley, Richard “Rick” Bitango, and John Bitango. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Layla Kelley, Jed Bitango, Zach Bitango, Katherine Bitango, Molly Bitango, and Theresa Bitango, and one great-grandchild, Mila Bitango. brother; Avery Gray Lakey, and sister; Audrey Raley.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 5740 South Pine Avenue, Ocala, Florida 34480.
