

John was a retired Chief Master Sergeant for the United States Air Force with 28 1/2 years of service to his country. He served during the Vietnam War.
John was an avid bowler and nature lover who enjoyed camping with his family and taking trips with them to Anna Maria Island where he'd spend countless hours shelling. When he retired, golf became his game and he even had a part-time job on the golf course. He was a loyal Tampa Bay Rays fan. To the neighborhood he was known as the Mayor and he tallied many miles on his daily walks. He and Bella were a daily fixture sitting on his driveway saying "Hi" to everyone. John was affectionately known as Pa and G-Pa to his grandchildren and great grandchildren who he cherished deeply.
John was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Hazel L. Rhoades.
John is survived by his daughters, Diana (Tom) Hall and Kay D. (Michelle McGuire) Rhoades; grandchildren, Justin Littlewood and Morgan (Matthew) Cook; great granddaughters, Raelynn and Remi Cook and his fur baby, Bella.
A private family graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2023 with Military Honors.
A Celebration of Life will be held at John’s house on Coquina Bay Lane on September 16th from 1-4 (Open House) for friends and those who knew him and his family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a Cancer Association or Animal Rescue of your choice.
