As a teen, he began racing outboard runabouts along the East Coast in events sponsored by the American Power Boat Association and later was instrumental in organizing the annual National Sweepstakes Regatta in Red Bank. Upon his retirement, he returned to racing hydroplanes with great success. He co-owned and served as Crew Chief on a team with his son and friends. His technical expertise and tireless pursuit resulted in many victories, including a National High Point Title in 2014.
