My fondest memories of "Grandma" Hedda (not by blood but certainly by our interwoven families) came more recently when I had my daughter. They loved eachother from the moment they met! Hedda adored my Ellie as her own and found great joy and anticipation in having their Jewish Deli breakfast date along with my mom and Aunt Jackie. Ellie could sense the great love of Grandma Hedda as only a toddler could perceive! And those who know Ellie knows she gives a brutally honest assessment of character! She would always light up at the thought of Grandma Hedda and their breakfast date! We will always remember her and I know we will see her again one day! I love you Uncle Andy, Aunt Jackie, Jenna and Wayne

My mother Hedda Scheck passed away yesterday (4/25/20)  which is a tough thing for me to write. She was a Jewish woman (the youngest of six children) who was born in Nazi-run Germany. At the age of 8 on Kristallnacht (Night of Broken Glass), she was put in jail with two brothers and her mother with her father taken off to Buchenwald concentration camp. Thankfully her other brothers and sisters were already in the US at that time. Fortuitously visas were already requested and approved (with bribe money paid to get her father out) and they left Germany for the US at the end of December that year having to give a promise the German government never to return. 
She lived a wonderful life in a country (United States) that accepted her, her American born husband William, and her family. Her sons (Larry& Loren, Andrew&Jackie), and her grandchildren Genna, Wayne, Jake and Josh, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews along a host of other folks all will miss her.
