Lewis Arn Kravet

Lew was married to the love of his life wife, Seena Ellen Kravet, for 52 years. He often said that his mother-in-law, Rhoda Beth Olsen, felt like his real mother, and he cherished her as such.

He was a dedicated English teacher at Sayreville High School, where he taught every child how to write a term paper. During the summers, he worked as a mutual clerk at Monmouth Racetrack, a job he truly enjoyed and continued until this year.

Lew loved his family deeply. He is survived by his wife Seena, his daughter Lia Hecht and her husband David Hecht, and his grandchildren Ariel and Benjamin Hecht. He was a devoted grandfather who spent the past ten years waiting each afternoon at the bus stop to see his grandchildren home from school. He never missed a game, concert, or cheerleading competition, always there to offer his enthusiastic (and often loud) support.

He was proud of his home in Long Branch, New Jersey, where he created a place his family loved to visit and spend time together by the ocean.

Lew is predeceased by his beloved sister Sharon, whom he loved very much.

Being Jewish was an essential part of Lew’s identity. He took great pride in celebrating every Jewish holiday with his family and in passing his traditions and values to his daughter and grandchildren.

Lew will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, friends, and his willingness to help anyone in need. He was a man who always showed up, no matter what, and his presence will be deeply missed.

The family asks that donations in Lewis' memory be made to Monmouth Reform Temple.

A funeral service will be held at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, located at 2130 Highway 35, Ocean, NJ 07712, on November 3, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.

Following the funeral, a committal service will take place at Beth Israel Cemetery, 1098 Woodbridge Center Dr, Woodbridge Township, NJ 07095, from 1:30 pm to 2:00 pm.

Shiva will be observed on Monday November 3, Tuesday November 4, November 5 from 5-8 PM at the Kravet family home.
