Marcia H. Gutcho was born in the Bronx, N.Y. and attended New York City public schools. She graduated from Hunter College in 1944 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry. An advisor at Hunter College told her she probably, as a woman, would not get a position as a Chemist. But she did so and in the course of her career became the author of scientific papers and presented at scientific meetings. After retiring to raise a family, she still was active in science and had a number of books published on a range of topics.
Marcia and her husband Sidney raised their children, Lawrence and Andrew, in Monsey, N.Y. before moving to Leisure Village West in 1997. She is survived by Sidney and Andrew, six grandchildren and their mothers Eileen and Mary.
