
Mildred (Steinberg) Sklar, 90, formerly of Union and Brick, NJ, died Monday December 1st, 2014 at LifeCare Center of Nashoba Valley in Littleton, MA, where she recently celebrated her 90th birthday in grand style with family and friends.
Known as Millie, she was born and raised in Newark, NJ, where she met the love of her life, Norman, who she was married to for 65 years. Millie and her husband raised their family in Union, NJ before retiring to Brick. Millie managed the administrative office at Orbit Tool & Die in Springfield, NJ for many years.
After retiring, she and her husband traveled to Israel, fulfilling a lifelong dream. Millie loved mah jong, card games, trips to Atlantic City and socializing with her family and friends. In her later years, she was active in the Lions Head South Community where she and her husband lived; she was a member of the community’s Lionettes organization , serving as head of the hospitality committee.
She is survived by the family she loved dearly: her son Howard Sklar and his wife Valerie, of Port St. Lucie, FL, and her daughter Barbara Campbell and her husband Bill, of Harvard, MA, and two grandchildren; Stephanie Cava of Frisco, CO and Sheri Minholz and her husband Gregory of North Brunswick, NJ. She is also survived by her brothers, George Steinberg and his wife Florence of Denver, CO and Herb Steinberg and his wife Phyllis of Lancaster, PA, her sister-in-law, Helen Cooper of Springfield, NJ, as well as many nieces and nephews. Millie was predeceased by her husband Norman and her two sisters, Rae and Sylvia.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday December 5th at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org. Services are under the direction of Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Ocean, NJ
