

Dr. Milton A. Ruben, 91, of Ocean, died peacefully at home on May 26th, 2017. Born in Spring Lake, he spent his childhood in Belmar, moved to Asbury Park, and graduated from Asbury Park High School. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Milton proudly served in the US Navy during WWII in the Armed Guard and was stationed in the Philippines. After serving in WWII, he graduated Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN. He had an optometry practice in Asbury Park and also worked for the federal government and retired from Fort Monmouth. Milton owned and operated Ruben’s Fascination on the Asbury Park Boardwalk for 10 years along with his wife Alice and brother, Howard.
He was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Alice, his brother, Howard, and his parents, William and Esther Ruben. He is survived by his daughters, Cheryl Schwartz and her husband Bruce, of Ocean, and Robin Carrozzo and her husband Victor, of Ocean, his grandson Matthew Yates and his wife Karen, of Hazlet, and great-grandson, Tyler. The family would like to thank his caregiver Merline Smith for her compassion and love.
