Born in Niagara Falls, NY, Robert- known affectionately as Bob- devoted his professional life to obstetrics and gynecology. Initially a physician in the US Navy, he practiced in Middletown and Red Bank from 1985 until his retirement in 2015, guiding countless families through some of their most important moments. Patients, colleagues, and staff remember him not only for his clinical expertise but also for his warmth, generosity, and steady presence. His work touched the lives of many, and his impact remains deeply felt throughout the region.
His parents, Helen and Aaron Farber, of blessed memory, modeled the loving and nurturing household that he would eventually duplicate. Bob was, above all else, a family man. He shared a loving partnership with his wife, Ann Farber, with whom he built a home rooted in kindness, laughter, and community connection. Together, they lived in Rumson, New Jersey for nearly 30 years, becoming well known and cherished members of the town they loved.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Ann; his three sons- Benjamin, his daughter, Norah and his wife, Kimberly Nugent; Daniel and his wife, Tracy; Jordan and his wife, Erin, along with their children, Cooper, Penelope, and Rory; and his sisters, Robin and Sonja. He is preceded in death by his mother, Helen, his father, Aaron, and his brother, David. Bob took immense pride in his family and especially delighted in being a grandfather. His guidance, generosity, and reliable nature will continue to shape their lives.
Those who knew Bob remember him as a man who gave freely of himself- to his family and friends, his patients, and to his synagogue, Congregation B’nai Israel, where he belonged for many years. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A life so full of care and connection leaves an enduring imprint, and Bob’s legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched.
