

Christian Jay “Chris” Baldwin, 44, of Dayton, Ohio, formerly of Kopperston, departed this life Tuesday, June 9, 2015. Chris was born October 21, 1970 in Great Lakes Naval Base, Great Lakes, Illinois to Larry and Peggy (Blankenship) Baldwin. He was the delight of his grandparents, the late Curtis and Marie Blankenship and the late Ronald and Pearl Baldwin. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his children Gabriel Baldwin, Mary Beth Baldwin, and their mother, Martha Baldwin of Clarksville, Ohio; brothers Erik Baldwin and his wife Tanya of Princeton, WV, Jonathan Baldwin and his wife Stefanie of Rockview, WV; Uncles Danny, Jerry, and Eddy Blankenship and Aunt Sheri Walker; cousins Kimberly Toler, Stephen Walker, and Tommy Joe Blankenship; nephews Daniel Baldwin, Joshua Baldwin, Auron Baldwin and Zane Baldwin; many other relatives and friends, and especially the OHS Class of 1988. Chris grew up happily in Kopperston, where he played baseball, football, and basketball. He attended Kopperston Grade School and was a 1988 graduate of Oceana High School. He was a 1994 Bluefield State College graduate, earning his degrees in Architectural and Civil Engineering. In 1995, he was the youngest person in West Virginia to earn his license as a professional land surveyor. He was the president of Asbuilt Construction, Ltd in Ohio. Chris was an outdoor enthusiast enjoying golf, fishing, baseball, boating, camping and all things outdoors. He especially enjoyed his years as a white water rafting guide. He was of the Christian faith.
