Alice Rebecca (Adams) Dawson

She was born March 10, 1929 in Odessa, Texas to Laura and James Adams. She spent her childhood in Odessa and graduated from Odessa High School in 1946. After graduation, she attended Texas Technological College (Texas Tech University) in Lubbock, Texas, graduating in 1951 with a degree in business.

Alice married Weldon Lee Dawson in Midland, Texas on May 21, 1955, sharing a beautiful life of 60 years together until his death in 2015. Alice and Weldon made their home in the Permian Basin area where she worked in the oil and gas industry from 1970 through 2007 with Texas Oil & Gas, and Feagan Energy.

After retirement, Alice volunteered with her husband at the Odessa Medical Center auxiliary, and with the United Ostomy Association.

Throughout her life, Alice faithfully served our Lord as a Sunday school teacher at both First Baptist Church Midland and First Baptist Church Odessa. Her faith and serving others was her central focus throughout her life.

One of Alice’s greatest joys was her family including her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband Weldon, her parents, her brothers Harlan and JL, and her sister Allie Marcus. Survivors include son Mark Dawson, her daughter Karen Horadam (Donny), son Steve Dawson (Ebeth), grandchildren Emily Gowdy (Stuart), Ellen Robinson (Keith), Shawn Dawson (Ana), Stephan Dawson, Charlotte Hampton, Nathan Ray (Melissa), Meagan Smith (Jeff), Micah Chapman (Stephan), Meredith Dawson, Scott Dawson (Erin) and 20 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends for visitation Saturday, April 25, 2026 from 9:30-10:00 AM at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 AM followed by a graveside committal at the Rose Hill section of Ector County Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Lubbock Meals on Wheels Pet Program or a charity of your choice.
