He was born on August 4, 1933 to Clate and Hattie Harden in Leesville, Texas, the ninth out of 15 children. Because of a pallet with polio if his teen years, Bill was not able to join the military like the rest of his brothers, so he attended Texas barber school in Austin where he learned how to cut hair. He moved to Corpus Christi in 1954 to begin a 54 year career in barbering at various shops in the community, retiring from Red’s Barbershop at Six-Points in 2008. He also was the owner of Harden’s Servicemaster services, a carpet cleaning service that he and his wife ran for some 30 years, allowing him to meet and work for many wonderful individuals and families.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Eunice Harden; children: Pamela Hand (Joseph), Billy Jr., Kimberly Harden, and John Wesley Harden (Amy); Grandchildren: Heather Pilgrim, Holly Luttrull, Travis Hand, Riley Hand, Haley Laughinghouse, Madelyn Harden and Kennedy Harden; six great grandchildren; siblings: Alene Lohse, Amos Harden, Velma Brown, Darlene Royal, Shirley Bohanan and Donald Harden; many nephews and nieces.
