Billy Gene Skiles

Billy was born in Jones County on October 2, 1935, to John Virgil and Era Lee (West) Skiles. He married the love of his life, Ava Perkins, on June 19, 1954.

He worked in the Oil Fields for many years, in many places. In 1970, Billy and Ava settled in Odessa, where he worked as an electrician. Later, he worked for Amoco, from which he retired.

Billy enjoyed bowling, hunting, scratch off lotto tickets and playing games on his computer. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and teasing everyone.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, parents; brother, Jimmy Skiles; and sister, Doris Sisco.

Billy is survived by his children, Sheila Payne and Christy (Steve) Button; sister, JoAnn Watson; grandchildren, Jason (Laura) Payne, Dusty Payne, Richard (Celenia) Button, Kimberly Button; great grandchildren, Kylee Payne, Alan Button; numerous other friends and family, including Becka, D'Arcy and Payton, who loved him like a grandpa.

A celebration of life for Billy will be held Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home, 601 North Alleghaney, Odessa, TX 79761.
