Carol Frances Corbitt

Born May 14, 1943. went to meet her heavenly lord and savior on December 29, 2012. Carol was born in Apopka, Fla to Kathern and Hoyle Ballou. She moved to Odessa in 1980, where she married James Joiner in 1984. Carol was a long time housewife and mother of 5 children. Four of which still live in Odessa. She has family connections to Tennessee, Kentucky, and Florida. Her grandson Nick Pettis lives in Tennessee with his longtime wife Mandy and their 3 children. Also long term family member Dot and family in Tennessee, whom she loved dearly and was extremely saddened by Dot's passing recently, I guess they are together now. And her father Hoyle Ballou was from Kentucky.

Carol married at the tender age of 16 to Bobby Ray Pettis of Ocoee, Fa. They had 3 children together. The first infant died at birth and then they had 2 daughters, Jonnie and Terri Pettis. They divorced after 5 years of marriage. She then marrried Charles Volz. They also had 3 more children, David, Christopher, and Vikki Volz. They moved to a big beautiful Victorian style home in Deland, Fa and they remained married for 13 years. When they eventually divorced, Carol moved to Odessa, TX hoping for a fresh start. She soon met James Joiner and they remained together for over 20 years until his death on March 17, 2010. She longed to be reunited with him and now she is.

Mom loved her dogs: China, Scooby, Pretty Girl, and Bad Boy. She loved "garage saleing" and any kind of thrift store. She loved to get a good deal. She passed that trait on to all of her daughters. We do love to shop. She loved watching movies, going out to eat and shopping. She loved to wear big gaudy jewelry and to look FLY. We love and miss you mother.

Carol in preceded in death by her parents Hoyle and Kathern Ballou, her grandparents, Ed and Ellen Ballou, and also her beloved son Charles David Volz and her husband James Joiner.

Carol is survived by her children; Jonnie and Terri Pettis, Chris and Vikki Volz, all of Odessa, her grandchildren Nick and Mandy Pettis, their 3 children, Alischa, Ashland, and Addison, All of Tennessee. Justin Pettis, Daniel Ortiz, Gage Pettis, Shetiva Tealer, DJ Stephens, and Dayleon Stephens all of Odessa. Her great-grand children Dominic and Ayden Ortiz, Shania, & Jazzlyn Tealer, and Jayson Stephens all of Odessa. Taylor, Sydney, Lil Dave, and Zoe all of Florida.

Mom your time of rest has come. We will miss you dearly and even though our hearts are broken and hurting, we know your journey is done. No more pain, no more struggles. We love you forever. OXOXOXO Jonnie. Visitation will be held today Thursday January 3, 2013 from 8am to 9pm at Odessa Funeral Home. Services will be held 2pm Friday January 4, 2013 at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Interment will follow at Andrews Old Cemetery in Andrews, Texas.
