Carolyn Ann Haltom was born in Houston, on February 24th, 1938 and passed away in Odessa on Friday, March 11th, 2022. Left to mourn her sweet spirit is her husband of 63 years, Charles Haltom; grandson and granddaughter-in-law Jerred and Kelly Crumley of Houston and their two children Archer and Abigayle; grandson and granddaughter-in-law Cade and Sarah Crumley of Tyler and their three children Rosemond, Patsy and Lucy; grandson Collin Crumley of Odessa and son-in-law Ray Crumley of Odessa.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Uzela and Billy Barham; in-laws Ollie and Ray Haltom and her daughter Carole Haltom.
Carolyn graduated from Sam Houston State University with a bachelor’s degree in education and was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She met her husband, Charles, at Sam Houston State University and they moved to Odessa after graduation and marriage in 1959. She taught elementary school in the Ector County Independent School District for 33 years until she retired. She was an active member of First Baptist Church, Odessa.
She was known for her sense of humor and always had a joke to share with her friends and family. She took pride and enjoyed spending as much time as possible with her grandsons and great grandchildren. In her retirement years, her neighbors loved to pay her regular visits and they brought much joy to her life. She was very active with her Sunday School class at First Baptist Church.
She was a Texas A&M sweetheart and loved going to the lake, hunting with Charles and spending time with friends and family. Her friendliness, funny stories, warm smile and contagious laugh will be missed by all who knew her.
The family will receive friends for visitation Wednesday, March 23, 2022 from 6-8 PM at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. A service for family and friends of Carolyn Ann Haltom, age 84, will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at 10 AM at First Baptist Church Odessa, TX. A graveside service for family and friends will be held at Bryan City Cemetery in Bryan, TX on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at 10 AM.
Jerred Crumley, Cade Crumley, Collin Crumley, Ray Crumley, Randy Beard and Paul Crow will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Tommy Elrod, Dean Crow, Arnufo Valdez, Cara Beard and Kyle Miller.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church, 709 N. Lee St, Odessa, TX 79761. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home of Odessa.
