Christine Chapman, 95, of Odessa, peacefully went to be with her Lord Jesus, November 15, 2022. Christine was born January 30, 1927 in Mount Pleasant, Texas to the late Emma and Jessie Smith. Christine graduated as Valedictorian from Hugo High School in Hugo, Oklahoma. Christine received medical training focused on dental assistant and nursing. She married her spouse Ernest Rolland Chapman Sr. on 11/20/1948; they were married for 67 years.
Christine worked as a nurse and a dental assistant for several years. With the birth of her first child, she found her true calling in life as a nurturer. She was the “rock” of the family, supporting Ernest in everything he pursued and always had time to volunteer for every function involving her 3 children. In addition to being a dedicated loving wife and mother, Christine was selfless, sacrificing everything she had to provide for others in a time of need. Christine was a business owner, serving as the Chief Operations Officer behind Chapman Construction, installing numerous septic systems throughout West Texas and Southeast New Mexico. Christine loved all of her grandchildren, striving to share with them life lessons she endured through her 95 years on God’s green earth. Her quick wit and inimitable humor allowed her to look at tough situations that served both her and her family well.
Christine’s legacy lives on through her daughter, Jenny Griffin; son, Ernest Chapman, Jr.; son-in-law, Kenneth Griffin; daughter-in-law, Donna Chapman; daughter-in-law, Patty Williamson; grandchildren, Gabriella Chapman, Kenneth W.
