Christopher James Mahaffey, 46, of Odessa, Texas was called up to Heaven on March 17th, 2018. He unexpectedly succumbed to a severe infection of his heart after courageously fighting the past couple of weeks surrounded by family.
He was born in Lubbock, Texas on October 23, 1971 to parents Eric and Pam Mahaffey. He graduated from Permian High School in Odessa, Texas in 1990 and soon after went to work in the oil field for Schlumberger, where he worked all over the world for 20 years. Christopher was loved by many of his co-workers and admired for his wisdom and expertise as a frac supervisor and later when he went out on his own as a consultant. Whether he was working in Texas, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Ohio, or Chad, Africa, Christopher would always cross paths with someone that knew him.
Christopher was a very devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Despite his sometimes tough exterior, deep down he was a very thoughtful, loving and caring person who never missed an opportunity to show his family and friends how much he cared for them. He would take the time to send flowers to his wife, attend sporting events for his kids, and hold his grandbabies every chance he got. Christopher was also an avid collector of an array of items including watches, coins, firearms, and subscribed to many “of the month” clubs.
Christopher is survived by his parents, Eric and Pam Mahaffey of Odessa, his mother-in-law Shirley Miller of Odessa. He is survived by his wife Stacie Mahaffey of Odessa, and children Krysta Halford and fiancé Alric Emanuel Jr. of Georgetown, Texas, Christin Mahaffey of Odessa, Joe Dale Halford III and fiancé Tasha Ziegler of Odessa, Nick Mahaffey of Odessa, Collin Mahaffey of Odessa, Brianna Mahaffey of Odessa, Brian Mahaffey of Odessa, and grandchildren Zayvin Emanuel and Mackenzie Halford. He is survived by his brother Patrick Mahaffey and wife Candy of Odessa, and sister Ashley Gahr and husband Luke of Odessa. Along with many nephews, nieces, cousins and extended family.
He will always be missed but never forgotten and will continue to live in our hearts forever and bring us joy with remembrances.
Celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 21st at First Baptist Church Odessa, located at 709 N. Lee Street in Odessa, Texas. Services are entrusted to Shawn Smith from First Baptist Church Odessa.
