He attended Zavala Elementary, Crockett Jr High and Odessa High School.
Danny worked for Brakes and Wheels as counter sales and an outside salesman for 13 years. He then made a career change and received his CDL with Steven's Transport. He drove for them traveling throughout the United States. After a few years, Danny then decided to return to Texas and worked for numerous trucking companies including Jack B. Kelly, CX Transportation, and Schwan’s. He was dispatcher and then Terminal Manager for Schwerman Trucking until January 2006. He then returned to the road for Old Dominion Freight Lines driving for 18 years where he received several awards for safe driver and a 2 Million Mile award, until his retirement in July 2024.
He met the love of his life Deborah Mapes in 2001 and later married on January 23, 2006. They recently celebrated 20 years of marriage. Danny would do anything for Debbie and always made sure Debbie had what she needed and more.
His whole life, Danny had a big heart and would help anyone who needed it without hesitation. His love for family showed thru his nieces and nephews who he claimed as his own children. And then enjoying the company of his great-nieces and great-nephews as well. lf mom and dad said no, Uncle Danny said yes! They knew about his stash of ice cream in the freezer and would wait until he said, "you don't have to ask, go get what you want". Even later in life he was always a phone call away day or night. Danny loved to spend weekends at the river house in Del Rio and would often invite family and friends to join him, Debbie, and the dogs. His love for sports included baseball, football, and wrestling and he would often listen to the games on the radio while on the road.
lf you knew Danny, you know animals had a special place in his heart, eventually having 8 dogs at one time. Whenever he left the house for something other than work, he was sure to have a dog, or all of them in tow. He recently was adopted by a stray cat who joined the clan.
Danny is preceded in death by his parents, Elias and Elodia Sanchez.
His memory will remain in the heart of his loving wife of 20 years, Deborah Sanchez; brothers: Orlando Sanchez (Gloria) of Seminole, TX and Ruben Sanchez of Canyon, TX; sisters: Patsy Rivera of Austin, TX, lrma Ríos (Alberto Jr) of Odessa, TX and Bertha Sanchez of Odessa, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews who will miss him more and more every day.
