God called his faithful solider Mrs. Dixie Young 91, home May 3, 2021 in Mesquite, Texas. Mrs. Dixie Young was born July 27, 1929 in Henderson, Texas (Rusk County), to Mr. Sam Fuller and Mrs. Luberta Fuller.
She married Mr. Ira Young Sr. They moved from East Texas to West Texas in the early 1950’s. She was a very caring person, she was a people person, she love making people laugh, most of all she loved the Lord. She had many jobs during her life, but her main job was working for her Lord. She always encouraged her family and anybody that seem to be down on themselves, she would tell them to “Trust in the Lord he will see you through.”
She started her journey to glory under the leadership of the Great Rev. W.R. Ockletree, the Great Rev. H.L. Steger, and lastly, the Great Rev. R.T. McNeil.
She was a member of the St. James Tabernacle Choir. She loved singing in the choir, and putting that robe on ready to march in on Sunday mornings.
She loved her family time and it was a joy for her to see her grandchildren, they were her jewels. Mrs. Dixie Young is preceded in death by both her parents; Mr. Sam Fuller and Mrs. Luberta Fuller, her spouse, Mr. Ira Young Sr. Sons, Tony Young, Mecca Young, and Rathelle Young. Daughter, Diane Powers. Brothers, Mr. Doris Fuller, Mr. U.C. Fuller. and Sisters, Mrs. L.V. Johnson, Mrs.Christine Wright, and Mrs.Della Moore.
Mrs. Dixie Young is survived by; Mr. Ira Young Jr and wife, Ramesha, Mr.B.J. Young, Mrs. Ella Hall and husband, Ed Hall, and Cathy Young. 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews and a host of friends.
There will be a Visitation Monday, May 10, 2021 at Odessa Funeral Home from 5-9pm. Home Going Celebration will be held at St. James Baptist Missionary Church on May 11, 2021 at 10am. Followed with a burial at Ector County Cemetery.
