

Donivee (Donna) Western Banes of Odessa, Texas, passed away peacefully at home in Cisco, Texas, Thursday, April 14, 2016, at the age of 101. She was born in Shelburn, Indiana to William E. (Bill) and Luella Pearl (Hiestand) Western, January 14, 1915. She grew up in Bristow, Oklahoma. She graduated from Bristow High School and attended Bristow Junior College.
On November 11, 1937, she married Warren Banes in Bristow; the Reverend B. I. Cherry officiated. Mr. and Mrs. Banes lived in Hobbs, New Mexico, where her husband, Warren, was employed in the oil industry. They moved to Odessa, Texas where her husband began a life-long career with Phillips Petroleum Company, and she was owner of the Tot Shop Children's Store in downtown Odessa. After selling the store, Mrs. Banes worked twenty-three years as a secretary in the attendance office at Crockett Junior High School.
She was a member of the Crockett Junior High, Bonham Junior High, and Permian High Band Boosters, and a member of the Texas Retired Teachers' Association. She also enjoyed playing Bridge, gardening, and cooking. She was a long-time, active, member of the First Baptist Church of Odessa. Mrs. Banes enjoyed RVing and traveling with her family. Her greatest joy was caring for her family.
Mrs. Banes was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years. She is survived by one daughter, Kaye Gaddy, Cisco, Texas, one son, Warren L. (Sonny) Banes, Jr. and wife Edna Banes, Montreat, North Carolina. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Stuart Gaddy and wife Georgia, Cisco, Texas, James Gaddy, Galveston, Texas, Joe Gaddy, San Marcos, Texas, Dr. Stace Gaddy, Cisco, Texas, Sims (Banes) Lamason and husband Shawn, Atlanta, Georgia, and Brett Banes, San Francisco, California, and three great grandchildren, Alissa Gaddy, Beckett and Asher Lamason, three nieces, one nephew, and several great-great grandchildren.
Visitation: Monday Evening, April 18, 2016 at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Home 6:00-8:00 PM.
Grave-side services will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
