

Doris Kathryn Roberts Tucker was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on February 16, 1915. She was married to Eugene Debs Tucker in Fort Worth, Texas, on June 30, 1943. She moved to Odessa in 1956 from Pampa, Texas. She resided in Odessa for 52 years before finally moving to Houston.
She was graduated from high school in Sweetwater, Texas, and received her Bachelor of Science and Master of Education degrees from Texas Christian University, in Fort Worth, Texas.
Doris taught school for 23 years in the Ector County School District, 20 years of which was in Burnet Elementary School.
She was a member of the Texas State Teachers’ Association, Classroom Teachers, Honorary Mothers Club, Beta Gamma, Kappa Kappa Iota Sorority, and the Retired Teachers Association – Ector County. She was a member of First Christian Church, serving as a Deaconess on the Church Board, and a member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Medical Center Hospital.
Survivors include: her daughter, Terry Divine (and husband Charlie) of Bonita Springs, FL; her son, Donald Tucker of Houston, TX; her grandson Chuck Divine (and wife Jessica) of Washington, D.C.; family friends Millie Divine Kruse, husband Richard, and their family of Katy, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene Debs Tucker; two sons, David Gene and James (Jim) Lee Tucker; and a brother, Homer Eugene Roberts.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Christian Church of Odessa.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 25, 2012 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens on Saturday at 9:30 A.M. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 A.M. at First Christian Church in Odessa.
