

Elisama nació en Ojinaga, Chihuahua, México el 11 de noviembre de 1946 a sus padres, Raquel y Joaquin Contreras quienes ya descansan en paz. Terminó la escuela secundaria en Adolfo Ruiz Cortines y trabajó como enfermera en el hospital local en Ojinaga. Cuando la familia emigró a los Estados Unidos, Elisama atendió Odessa College. Estuvo casada por 29 años y Dios la llenó de gozo con su hija, Elizafan. Durante su vida trabajó en distintas carreras pero se inclinó hacia la costura. Sus talentos la llevaron a establecerse abriendo su propio negocio Raquel’s Shop. En su tiempo libre trabajaba en su jardín y alimentaba los innumerables pájaros que solían frecuentar su patio.
En su vida su devoción era Dios y su fe en el Todopoderoso guió sus actos diarios. Las puertas de su casa estaban abiertas con generosidad a su familia, su familia en Cristo, amistades y aun extraños quienes encontraban una mano extendida. Fue miembro íntegro de la Iglesia Apostolica Tabernaculo de Fe atendiendo fielmente y sirviendo con valentía. Encontró reposo en la oración, fuerza en la escritura, y paz en las promesas de nuestro Dios salvador.
La sobreviven su hija Elizafan, sus hermanas Lydia Gallegos, Manuela Contreras, Dra. Raquel Contreras y Zabdy Smith-Davis y un hermano, Joaquin Contreras, Jr., y numerosos sobrinos, sobrinas y familia que sentirán su ausencia.
Aparte de sus padres, también su hermano Ramon Contreras descansa en el Señor Jesus.

Elisama “Licha” Flores Contreras, age 78, from Odessa, Texas, went to be with our LORD on June 2, 2025.
Elisama was born in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico on November 11, 1946, to Raquel and Joaquin Contreras. She graduated from Escuela Secundaria Adolfo Ruiz Cortines and worked as a nurse in a local hospital in Ojinaga, Chihuahua. When the family relocated to the United States, she attended Odessa College. She was married for 29 years, and God blessed the couple with a daughter, Elizafan. Although she worked numerous types of jobs including healthcare and retail, she gravitated towards her strengths as a seamstress and owned Raquel’s Shop. She was sought after for her gift with alterations and was well recognized for her talent. She enjoyed gardening and feeding the numerous birds that flocked her front yard.
Central to her life was her commitment to God. Her faith in the Almighty guided her day-to-day living. She opened her heart with grace and generosity, always ready to serve others. Her home was a place of comfort and belonging, where family, friends, and even those she had just met were welcomed with open arms. She was an integral part of the Odessa Apostolic Faith Tabernacle delighting in leading by example. She found joy in prayer, strength in scripture and peace in the promises of eternal life with our LORD and savior.
She is survived by her daughter, Elizafan, her siblings, Lydia Gallegos, Joaquin Contreras, Jr., Manuela Contreras, Dr. Raquel Contreras and Zabdy Smith-Davis. She also leaves behind numerous nephews, nieces, and extended family that will greatly miss her.
Elisama was preceded in death by her parents, Joaquin and Raquel Contreras, and one brother, Ramon Contreras.
The family of Elisama wishes to thank pastor Jose Ruiz, Jr, and the congregation of the Odessa Apostolic Faith Tabernacle for their love and support.
A visitation for Elisama will be held Thursday, June 5, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Odessa Funeral Home, 1700 North Jackson, Odessa, TX 79761. A funeral service will occur Friday, June 6, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Odessa Apostolic Faith Tabernacle, 2321 Adams Ave, Odessa, TX 79761. The burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home, 6801 E, Odessa, TX 79762.
