

Ernest “Buck” Chapman, 94, of Odessa passed away Sunday, August 23, 2015 at his residence. He was born September 12, 1920 in Itasca, TX to Rev. Joe & Mattie (Thorton) Chapman. He served in the US Army during WWII. He married Christine Smith November 20, 1947 in Odessa. He was retired owner of Chapman Construction. He was a longtime member of Temple Baptist Church. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, York Rite & Scottish Rite.
He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Donny Chapman; sisters, Clara Wooten, Maudie Young & Ima Hall; brothers, Elmo, Martin, Hugh, Carl, & Curtis Chapman, He is survived by his wife, Christine Chapman of Odessa, son, Ernest Chapman Jr & wife Donna of Coleman; daughter, Jenny Griffin & best friend Kenneth Griffin of Odessa; (11) grandchildren; (19) great-grandchildren; (5) great-great-grandchildren; & numerous nieces & nephews.
He will lie in state 9 am to 5 pm Tuesday, August 25, 2015 and 9 am to 9 pm Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clydel Chapman officiating. Interment will be in the Albany City Cemetery, Albany, TX. 10:00 am Friday, August 28, 2015.
