Evelyn Joyce (Willis) Landerth was born in Limestone County, TX on April 3,1938. She was born to the parentage of Berlina Mc-Queen and Clarence Keaton. Evelyn was educated in the Coolidge and Ector County school systems.
Evelyn moved to Odessa from Coolidge. She married Charlie Landerth, who proceeded her in death, and together they raised five children; Peggy Curry Pearson (Samuel), Chester Willis (Katie), Kirk Willis (Mari), Charlene Landerth Cleaver, and Kenneth Landerth (Yolanda). Also, together with Charlene, she
lovingly raised Mikayla Landerth.
Evelyn worked at UTPB and Ector County ISD. She retired from Ector County ID after many years of faithful service. Evelyn received Christ at an early age and was very faithful in serving the Lord.
She loved singing hymns, serving her community, and loving on her family. She was a faithful member of the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church under the pastorage of the late Rev. Larry Rhea. She also a faithful servant and worker at the King Solomon and Shiloh Baptist churches until her health prevented her from attending in person. Evelyn could always be found preparing meals for grieving families in the community. She also loved her family members in word and deed and loved having family
around. Everyone referred to her as "Granny", throughout the home and in the community.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, brothers Elmer Carr and Alvin Dewaye Cornish; son-in-law, Chester Cleaver and several other dear relatives. Those left to cherish her memories: her children and their families, her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, her sister, Ina Faye McCowan, sister-in-law, Diane Farrow, and many nieces and nephews. Also her special friends, Rose Mary Shephard, Rose Berry and Catherine Sims, and a
host of many other family members and friends.
