Harry Louis Bevers Jr.

Harry was born July 16, 1924 in Denver, Colorado to Harry and Mae Snyder Bevers. He proudly served as a bombardier, navigator, nose gunner in the 702nd bomb squadron 445th Bomb Group of the United States Army Air Corp. where he earned the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. During his service, Harry was awarded two Oak Leaf Clusters and a Bronze Star. He received his honorable discharge in October 1945 after completing 22 missions.

Returning to Denver, Colorado, Harry attended Colorado School of Mines where he earned a bachelor in petroleum engineering. He married the love of his life, Mary Justine Nilsson and found his way down to Odessa, Texas where they raised three children together.

Harry had an entrepreneur spirit. He loved to dabble in business opportunities along with being self-employed in the oil and gas industry. He loved to dance, loved to cook and entertain family and friends. He loved fly fishing, skiing and played a mean set of tennis. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Odessa and was very active in his kid’s athletic endeavors.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Mae Snyder Bevers; his wife Mary Justin Nilsson Bevers; son Brusse Nilson Bevers and sisters, Norma, Betty, Beatrice, and Helen.

He is survived by his daughter Marie Louise Bevers and her husband Tom Cummings of Arlington, Texas and son Martin Aubert Bevers of Odessa

Visitation is scheduled for Friday, July 27, 2012 from 9am to 9pm at Hubbard Kelly Funeral Home. The family will be present from 6pm-8pm Memorial service will be held 11am Saturday July 28, 2012 at First Presbyterian Church Odessa with Rev. Jim Longstreet officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alzheimer’s Association.
