Kathy was born October 28, 1945 in Knox City Texas to Aubrey “A.J” Collier and Lois (Dodd) Collier. She is survived by her loving husband, John William ”Bill” Bowden and 4 children, daughter, Lori Cawley and husband Grant of Odessa, son, Eddie Renbarger of Dallas, daughter, Lisa Salada and husband Matt of Abilene, and daughter, Kristy Bowden and husband Koley of Austin, 4 grandchildren, Bryce, Austin, Isabella, and Garrett, and brother, Danny Collier of Odessa, and sister-in-law, Lynn Barrington. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Pat Robinson.
Kathy grew up in Odessa and traveled all over the world, living in Italy, Africa, Brazil, and Australia, before returning home. She married Bill Bowden on March 13, 1987, and, together, they merged their two families into one. Her husband and her children were guided by her strength, her values, and her kindness.
Later, with the birth of her grandchildren, Kathy found another profound joy. She was there to celebrate as each grandchild was born, and Grandma cherished every birthday, baseball game, Christmas, and any other chance to spend time with her grandchildren.
She loved gospel music, flowers in her garden, decorating her home, and the beautiful hotels of Las Vegas. She loved going out for a movie, and having nachos and a margarita at La Bodega.
Kathy did not lose her battle with cancer; she won the victory of eternal salvation. She was loving and kind and brave, and we are so glad she is at peace.
We hated to see you go, Mom, but we know where you have gone, and we will see you there soon.
Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, April 23, 2016, at First Baptist Church/Old Sanctuary. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home of Odessa, where a viewing will be held from 6pm to 8pm on Friday, April 22nd.
