

LeeDon Martin, of Odessa, age 64, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on August 14, 2014 after a brief illness. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00pm on Monday, August 18, 2014 at First Christian Church 601 N Lee, with Pastor Regina Attaway and Minister Lynn Money officiating.
Interment will follow the service at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
LeeDon, born December 21, 1949 to Lee D. and Maudie Martin of Odessa, Texas, was the youngest of four children. He graduated from Permian High School and then went on to serve 4 years in the United States Air Force. He was stationed in Wichita Falls, Texas where he served as a firefighter during his military career. He then returned to Odessa where he was a fireman and paramedic before he joined the faculty as a Professor and later became the Department Chair over the Fire and EMS Program at Odessa College. In his 27 years of faithful service at Odessa College, LeeDon taught MANY paramedics and firefighters, and for that, we are truly grateful for his years of service.
After LeeDon retired from Odessa College, he continued his community service career by doing such things as serving on the Odessa Parks and Recreation Board, Odessa Planning and Zoning Committee, and acted as an Odessa Chamber Ambassador. He is a faithful member of First Christian Church in Odessa where he served as a Deacon and Elder. LeeDon maintained an active education career by serving as a substitute teacher for ECISD for many years.
LeeDon is preceded in death by his parents and sister Catherine Berryhill.
LeeDon is survived by his wife, Kathy “Renee” Apperson Martin of 17 years. In-laws, Randall and Beth Apperson, brothers-in-law Bob Apperson, Rick Apperson and Doug Apperson all of Northboro, Iowa. David Apperson of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Daughter, Carrie Ann Boone of the Houston area. Sister Marilyn Snyder and husband V.J. of Odessa, Sister Glinda Coleman and husband Jon of Lubbock; nephews Michael Berryhill of Olathe, Kansas, Shannon Snyder of Odessa, Texas, Jon Lee Coleman of Lubbock, Texas, and Aaron Coleman of Frisco, Texas; and nieces Derie Tohkubbi of Odessa and Kyla Donnell of Odessa. As well as many great nieces and nephews that he dearly loved.
Memorials can be made to First Christian Church of Odessa or Hope House of Odessa.
