

Lila Barnett passed peacefully from this life on 11/21/10. She was born March 29, 1928, in San Saba County, Texas to Arleva and Mark Maxwell. She grew up in Odessa, Texas and married James Barnett on July 22, 1947. They celebrated 60 years of marriage on July 22, 2007. Their children hosted a dinner party at the Barn Door in honor of their anniversary.
Lila Barnett retired from E.C.I.S.D. after 28 years as secretary in the athletic office.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jimmy Barnett, her mother and father, a sister, Evelyn Ghorley of Puyallup, Washington, three brothers, Carter Maxwell of Odessa, Texas, Gorman Maxwell, Troy Maxwell & his wife Rona Dell Maxwell of Odessa.
She is survived by her husband James Barnett of Odessa, Texas, one sone and his wife Ronnie and Sally Barnett of Idaho, one daughter and her husband, Becky and Rev. Bob Harper of Euless, Texas. Four granddaughters, Brandy Barnett of California, Shannon and husband Ronnie Bablay of San Diego, California, Dr. Cynthia Haggerton and husband Dr. Jim Bob Haggerton of Hurst, Texas, and Marcy Harper of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Six great-grandchildren and three sisters: Gwendolyn and husband Rev. Reed Gipson of Odessa, Texas, Lola and husband Ken Fergasun of Houston, Texas, Ann Bass of Phoenix, Arizona and one sister-in-law and husband Peggy and Joe Hemphill.
There will be a family visitation from 7 – 9 p.m. today at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. A Memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Claassen officiating.
