He was born October 5, 1920 to Guadalupe and Elena (Torres) Garcia in Marfa, Texas.
He married Clara Gonzalez February 16, 1942 in Fort Stockton, Texas. And from this union five daughters and one son were born. He was a member of the Guadalupanas, and Cursillista.
He was also known as the barrio mechanic for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife; Clara Garcia; son; Manuel Garcia, four sisters; Jesusita Garcia, Dolores Lopez, Elisa Almendarez, and Vicenta Miranda.
He is survived by five daughters; Elodia Veale and husband Alan , Sally Garcia, Veronica Gonzalez and husband Juan all of Odessa, and Adelina Lang and husband Bob of Abilene, Viola Salgado of Irving, one sister; Catalina Garcia and husband Jose of Odessa, thirty grandchildren, seventy eight great-grandchildren, and thirty three great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
A rosary will be recited from 7pm-9pm Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Mass will be celebrated at 10am Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Ector County Cemetery in the Rose Hill section.
