

Barbara Ellen Benton (Thompson), age 78, went to be with the Lord on May 2, 2025 at her home in Harrah, Oklahoma.
She was born on January 19, 1947 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Robert Thompson and Elizabeth Hagood (Farnkopf). She was a 1965 graduate from Hartshorne High School in Hartshorne, Oklahoma.
Throughout her life she worked at McAlester Army Ammunition and retired from Tinker AFB in maintenance and repairs. After retirement, she pursued a career as a realtor. Barbara was married to her love, Gary Lloyd Benton, with whom she shared 29 cherished years. She was known for her spunky personality, unshakeable resilience, and deep love for her family. Of all the roles she played in life, the one she cherished most was being “Memaw”. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of her life. She was a strong woman of faith and one day we will be united again. Her legacy will live on through her family that loved her so very much.
Barbara is survived by brothers, Donald Freeman, David Thompson, Edwin and wife Shannon Thompson. Sisters, Doris Coster, Diane Holloway, Linda and husband Bill McMahon. Children, Sandra and husband Thomas Carr, Debbie Servati, Shelley and husband Lonnie Mahurin, Mandy and husband Chad Lemmons, Ron and wife Sheila Zawisza. Grandchildren, Kasey Carr, Payton Carr, Mike and wife Jawayna Montgomery, Randy and wife Annie Montgomery, Brenna Mahurin, Ethan Mahurin, Abbigail Mahurin, Ryan Lemmons, Sarah Lemmons, Miranda Zawisza. Great grandchildren, Maesyn Vinson, Oaklee Mahurin, Alexis Montgomery, and Nathan Montgomery.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth Hagood (Farnkopf), father, Robert Thompson, brother, Robert Thompson, sister, Doris Coster, son in law Bill Servati, and her husband Gary Lloyd Benton.
